The cutest mini chicken pattern!

This adorable mini chicken pattern is munchkin shaped and has the cutest tiny details to complete the look.

This pattern works up fairly quickly because there are not a lot of additional limbs to make like larger amigurumi — once the body is done you’re already halfway there!

You can make this chubby chicken to celebrate Easter or just the arrival of Spring!

Tips for making this pattern!

This pattern has a few new techniques for the crest and the beak that involve making smaller detailed pieces.

I go over how to make the picot stitch that you use for the crest in the Special Stitches section below, so be sure to check that out!

However, the main technique I want to talk about today is sewing amigurumi parts together.

This can seem daunting to a lot of people, and since this amigurumi pattern has a bit more sewing than most, I want to be sure to direct you to my guide on how to sew amigurumi pieces together.

After reading this guide, you’ll be fully equipped to sew anything together, no matter what kind of shape it is!

I also have a great video that goes along with it that you can watch for the full effect!

Technical Notes

  1. Crochet in continuous spiral rounds, unless specified otherwise. Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to keep track of the last stitch in each round.
  1. When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi. For more tips on how to stuff, see my blog post here!
  2. To avoid large holes in the crochet fabric, increase tension until the holes cannot be seen, or choose a crochet hook a size down.
  3. Stuff the head and the body firmly at the openings so that the neck is stable upon completion.
  4. Use sewing pins to secure parts of the amigurumi before you sew them.
